Welcome
You’ve spent most of your life being the strong one.
The responsible one.
The dependable one.
The one everyone turns to when things fall apart.
From the outside, your life may look stable—even successful.
But inside, something feels deeply off.
You’re exhausted from carrying everyone else’s needs while quietly wondering:
“When does it get to be my turn?”
You’ve spent years adapting to environments where your voice didn’t feel safe.
You learned to read the room, keep the peace, and make yourself smaller so relationships wouldn’t break.
You became good at surviving.
But survival isn’t the same thing as living.
Now you’re noticing the cost:
- Relationships where you give more than you receive
- Boundaries that collapse under guilt
- The constant pressure to be “fine” when you’re anything but
- A quiet fear that if you truly showed who you are… people might leave
And beneath all of it is a deeper question you may not have said out loud yet:
“Do I even know who I really am anymore?”

You’re Not Broken
You are responding normally to environments that taught you:
- Your needs were inconvenient
- Your voice was dangerous
- Your worth depended on keeping other people happy
None of those messages were ever true.
But they shaped the patterns you’ve been living inside.
That’s where this work begins.

Hi, I’m Barbara Sosa
Counselor, M.S., LMHC
Hi, I’m Barbara Sosa
I help people who have spent their lives holding everything together finally understand why their relationships feel so heavy—and how to change those patterns at the root.
My work isn’t about quick fixes or surface-level coping.
It’s about helping you understand the deeper story that shaped how you love, trust, and show up in relationships.
Together we will:
- Identify the relational patterns that keep repeating
- Understand the roots of people-pleasing and self-abandonment
- Build boundaries that protect you without isolation
- Reconnect you with your identity, voice, and internal confidence
- Create relationships that feel emotionally safe and mutual
This work is deeply relational.
For many clients, it’s the first time someone has truly stayed present with their story—without judgment, pressure, or expectation.
And that experience alone can begin to change everything.

Imagine What Life Could Feel Like
YImagine waking up feeling grounded instead of anxious.
Imagine saying “no” without the wave of guilt that usually follows.
Imagine relationships where you feel respected, heard, and emotionally safe.
Imagine making decisions based on what you truly want, not what will keep others happy.
Imagine your children growing up seeing healthy boundaries and emotional honesty modeled in real time.
Imagine finally feeling like the author of your own life.
That kind of change is possible.
But it doesn’t happen through willpower alone.
It happens through understanding, healing, and rebuilding the way you relate to yourself and others.

Drawing on a rich background of over 15 years, I have served adolescents and adults at various respected institutions and in my own practice. My experience spans a broad spectrum of mental health services, reflecting a steadfast commitment to providing empathetic, evidence-based care by using interventions such as Accelerated Resolution Therapy, CBT, ACT, and others. At Bethesda Revive Counseling Services, LLC, I bring this depth of knowledge to every session, ensuring that each client benefits from a blend of seasoned understanding and fresh, personalized strategies for the well-being of each client.
